The project involves a protective and visitation canopy for the archaeological site of the Neolithic Settlement of Avgi (Kastoria Prefecture), a key prehistoric settlement dating to the mid-6th millennium BC (circa 5650 BC). Excavations are carried out by a scientific team under the supervision and direction of Archaeologist Dr. Georgia Stratouli.
The structure is a metal portal frame system without vertical diagonal bracing, spanning a plan area of 1,700 m². It safeguards fragile architectural remains—such as walls, floors, and other sensitive findings—from weather exposure, while facilitating gradual and controlled public access to the site.
